Community and Togetherness2025
This practical project responds to the theme of community in women’s spaces. The outcome for this project focuses on colour, pattern and abstraction, with enfasis on composition, curation and the handmade process. This project consists of two sets of screen prints entitled ‘Community’ and ‘Togetherness’. This project enfasises the importance of textural overlays and touches on the importance process has on my practice.

The screen print outcomes work as ‘mock-ups’ for murals seen in public spaces. When gaining inspiration for colourways and shapes, I looked at ‘The Women’s Organisation’ in Liverpool for guidance. Considering their manifesto and colour palette, this clarified my ideas and format for the brief.

There are six prints in the ‘Community’ set and four prints in the ‘Togetherness’ set.

In ‘Community’ the shapes co-exsist and are distributed freely, to encourage a feeling of accompaniment.

In ‘Togetherness’, the shapes overlap and intertwine, placed in unison, connoting feelings of integration.

Printed at a1 size, on Fabriano Printmaking paper.
