Ruby Whistance is a Liverpool based illustrator and artist who works in Silk Screen printing and pattern making. Exploring current trends in fashion, interiors and culture is where her main concepts and ideas come from. Ruby’s practice is maintained through a strong visual aesthetic that is reflected in the enthusiastic and playful tone of her work. Ruby’s work is often explorative of a fun and interchangeable manner, thriving off the creative process.
Her primary interest in mark making and texture grows from the freedom she gets from creating and experimenting with layout and overlays. The craft process feeds into the narrative of her work, as well as her love for physical media, books, catalogues, publications, she feels it is important to make things that exist, physically.
